Maddie

I took a few pictures of Maddie for Kasey while they were here. Lexi and Maddie had so much fun playing together. We miss them already!

Jimmy!

I just wanted to say that I am soo glad that i was able to come up there and see everyone. The reason for the visit should not have been why we came. Jimmy and the rest of the brothers and sisters have always felt like they were my brothers and sisters not just my aunts and uncles. We always wonder why things happen the way they do. I know i always wondered why i couldnt have a "normal family" with a mom and dad at home, but over the years the more i thought about a "normal family" i realized that i didnt want a normal family because by not being "normal" i was able to live with alot of my family that i normally would not have been able to do. I was able to grow up and have the love of sooo many different people. I had the honor of having not only one brother but three brothers and many sisters. I had two mothers, my amazing mother Kristi and my amazing grandmother Loyce. I also had a dad that i love more than anything, my grandfather Glenn, and now i have a wonderful step dad Cecil who has given me soo much. I am sooo blessed to have had an amazing "brother" like jimmy. He was always there for me when i needed him. Im sure i annoyed him like any little sister would do but it didnt matter when i needed something he dropped everything to help. As everyone knows i was very young when i had my first child. I was so scared but jimmy was there talking to me on the phone chearing my on, he knew that i could make it, for this reason i named my son Colton James. At the service on saturday I wanted so badly to stand up and say so many wonderful things about jimmy but i couldnt, no words could come out. The pain of losing him is almost unbearable, the only thing keeping me up is the knowledge that he is in no more pain. Jimmy is in a place we work our whole lives to get to. He was so special that God needed him now, he already earned his way to live with our heavenly father. I know jimmy wouldnt want us to be sad but its so hard not to be. I just want everyone to know that i love them so much. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family like i do!

Jimmy's Story

I am sure many are wondering what happened to Jimmy and I feel I need to make sure everyone knows the facts.

Several years ago Jimmy was working at a Guest Ranch in Colorado and injured two vertebrea by lifting a very heavy rock, he was in severe pain so the doctor put him on Oxycontin (this was before we had ever heard of that drug and how terrible and powerful it is). This injury was really bad. Later Jimmy would be told he needed a risky surgery but refused because of the chance something might go wrong. Jimmy needed the medicine for his pain and eventually his body just needed the drug. He tried several times to go off the drug but just couldn't, the withdrawal symptoms were so bad. Sometime not long ago (I'm not sure when but within the last year) a doctor put him on Methadone to help him get off the Oxycontin. This past October, out of the blue Jimmy came to Rexburg for a visit, he was really sick the whole time he was here (I thought he had the flu) but after he left Glenn said Jimmy told him he was going cold turkey off the Methadone. Jimmy felt this drug was as bad or worse than the Oxycontin. He had to go back to Seattle (being away from his son was hard) so he went back. Thanksgiving he came to Utah and came home with us again. He was still trying not to take the Methadone and still had terrible symptoms (couldn't sleep, terrible anxiety attacks and stomach problems) but seemed to get a little better. He wanted to go back to Seattle to have an early Christmas with Jayden and then come back to Rexburg. Something went terribly wrong, we would call to see when he was coming back and he just kept saying tomorrow. The last day, he didn't even sound like himself. Glenn tried to get a flight out on Saturday and couldn't, then they found him dead Sunday morning. We thought at first he had taken his own life but after the investigation they (the police) think (Cindi and Michael agree) his symptoms were still bothering him which made his depression worsen. He tried over the counter drugs but they did not help. He still had some Methadone which he took but after being off it for so long the dose was just too strong and his body had a violent reaction and he died in his sleep.

I believe that Jimmy never got a drug that he didn't have a legal prescription for. It really saddens me that doctors hand out powerful medicines just for the asking. We all feel we made some terrible mistakes, we should have encouraged Jimmy to work with a doctor and not go off the drug cold turkey, he should have never gone back to Seattle alone (he needed constant moral support to handle the withdrawal symptoms) and we should have gone immediately when we saw things starting to go wrong. We will forever wish we could go back and do thing differently. We do know Jimmy knew we loved him very much and we are so very grateful for the last few weeks we had with him.

Sledding in Utah

I got some really good shots of Rod, Chaz, Wes, Connor, Braden, Zach and Drew sledding (I just love the picture of rod) - I thought it would be easier to post them than to e-mail them to everyone...
I love you all so very much!

A little more than an inch

So....It actually ended up snowing ALL DAY! We ended up getting about 6 inches of snow in Bellevue. School is cancelled again tomorrow. That's three in a row for me. They are expecting more snow in our area on Sunday. Good news is, I got all my Christmas presents wrapped. Bad news is, I have to make up all of these days in June.

Rob came and got me this evening. In route back to his house he found a huge, untouched parking lot and he just couldn't resist...
Hope you are enjoying the snow in your area too!

Snow Day in Seattle

Yesterday morning I woke up hoping against hope that we would have a snow day and school would be cancelled, but when I woke up at 5 am and peeked outside, there was no snow on the ground and there was no snow falling out of the sky. So I started to get ready for my day. Then a little voice in my head told me to call the district hotline just in case. Sure enough, school was cancelled. It was supposed to snow at 7 am, and they didn't want to be stuck with a bunch of kids at school with no way to get them home. So, Even though the roads were too treacherous to go school I spent my day shopping for Christmas presents!
For those of you who have never lived in the Seattle area just know that they cancel school for even one flake of snow. It is ridiculous, but secretly we love it.

Yesterday they kept claiming that it was going to snow. First it was 7 am. Then 10 am. Then 2 pm. Then 6 pm. Then 10 pm. By the time I went to sleep at 11 pm last night there was not a flake in the sky.

So this morning when I woke up at 5 am, there was a little bit of snow on the ground. I called the hotline and schools were delayed 1 hour. I must admit I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for another day off. Reluctantly I started getting ready for my day. At 6 am I figured that I better call the hotline again just to make sure that I had heard right. They had changed the message! Schools were Cancelled again due to "increasing snowfall"

So I'm happy to report that we have a snow day and there is actually snow on the ground! Although it is only an inch, at least its something! You've gotta love Seattle! So for all of you who are stuck in 6 inches of snow or more and below zero temperatures, I thought I would show you a pictures of what we in Seattle have to deal with!.

One inch of snow and school is cancelled for two whole days! I love it!

Peak2Peak

Rob and I went to Whistler this weekend for our first ski outing of the season. We both bought new skis and couldn't wait to try them out. It was perfect timing for a ski trip because we were there on opening day of the new Peak2Peak Gondola. It spans from the top of Whistler Mountain to the top of Blackcomb Mountain. It is 2.73 miles long and at one point you are 1,427 feet above the ground. It was quite the experience. I'm glad we go the chance to go up.

Check it out for yourselves: http://www.peak2peakgondola.com/

Rob and I before getting on Peak2Peak

After a day of skiing we rushed home on Saturday morning so I could be back in time for the Ward Christmas party. I was in charge. It turned out great. We even had a visit by Santa. We couldn't pass up the photo op.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Here are a few other things we did while they were here....
Decorated the tree

Made a gingerbread house

Looked at Christmas lights

Played (the blue on her head is makeup that Kylie put on her)

Enjoyed spending time together

And did a little boxing

(the story we agreed on was that she fought the bull and won)

Tis The Season...

To DECORATE!!!

I totally just finished decorating, and since it is my first place and the first time I have ever decorated all on my own, I thought I would share it with my lovely family and friends. I know it is not much, but it was fun to do and I think it actually looks somewhat decent!

I CAN'T WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS!!!

BEING THANKFUL....

I know that Thanksgiving day has passed, but I was thinking and wanted to post a message to all of you about the things that I am thankful for....
I tend to get wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and although I think of each of you everyday and pray for you just as often, I neglect to tell you how important you are to me.
I am thankful for my parents - mom, dad, I know that I don't say it near enough, but I am so lucky to be blessed with such great parents. I have, for the most part, had a wonderful life, and although I made some choices that lead me down the wrong road a time or two, it was the values the two of you instilled in me and the person you raised me to be that helped me get back to where I needed to be.
I am thankful for my sisters and brothers - I have so many wonderful memories of growning up, having fun and being there for each other. Of all the friends I have had in my life, you are the ones I want to turn to when I have a good day, bad day - or even just talk about the movie I saw last weekend! :) I am thankful for all of the special people you have brought into my life and although I don't see them much I truly believe I have the most awesome neices and nephews there are!!
I am thankful for my kids - Kasey & Chaz you are the light that has always kept me going even when my world was so dark it seemed hopeless. You are my heart and soul!
I am thankful for my grandkids - I honestly can't imagine life without them in it.
I am so thankful for my wonderful husband who believed in me when others wouldn't and built a life that we can be proud of with me and my children.

Cousins, aunts, uncles and friends - I love and am thankful for each and every one of you!

I look at the world today and the struggles that so many people have to endure and thank God that I am blessed with this wonderful life and family.

I wish you all a wonderful holiday season!
LOVE YOU!!!

Swimming in November

Keaton wanted to go swimming but the pool is closed for the winter. She didn't want to just play in the bathtub, so Heidi got creative and Keaton loved her new pool.
