Seattle

We have a friend going to Seattle on vacation in a couple of weeks and we told her we would get some ideas of things they could do there. If anyone has suggestions of fun things to do in Seattle let us know! Thanks!!!

Cindi needs to tell you where that park is with the famous Seattle background. Also the Space Needle is a must! :)

Kerry Park in the Queen Ann area of Seattle is that park you are referring to. It is so beautiful. I can think of a few places to go but I don't know how to explain how to get there. Cindi you will have to help since you are the Seattle expert...

The Troll under the bridge is a must, Bellevue Square, Gasworks park, definitely space needle and ride on the monorail. Chocolates from the chocolate place in Issaquah, can't think of the name.

Here is a list I sent Jeremy. Let me know if I forgot anything great...

1. Pike's Place Market (farmers Market) and the piers on the waterfront. Ivar's has the best fish and chips and the Ole' Curiosity Shop is one of the oddest stores I've ever been in.
2. Snoqualmie Falls (they can just look at the falls or take the short but STEEP hike down)
3. See the Troll under the bridge
4. Rent Canoe's at the Arboretum at the University of Washington.
5. Going up to the top of the Space Needle (and eating dinner if they really want to spend some money).
6. Going to see the Ballard Locks. This is where Salmon and Boats go from Ocean Water to fresh water. It is fun to watch them make the change through the canal. They literally have to be lifted or lowered from one body of water to the next.
7. Hike on Mount Rainier (this is a little bit of a drive from the Seattle areas but there are a ton of great day hikes with awesome views)
8. They could go to a Mariner's game. The team isn't doing very well but the baseball stadium is one of the best in the nation and the Garlic French Fries are my favorite!
9. Camping at Deceptions Pass (or somewhere near here). This is also another great place for day hikes.
10. Kayaking in the Puget Sound. For the last two years I've gone to Deceptions pass and camped and then we took the Ferry to the San Juan Islands. There are some great companies that do Whale Watching Tours and Sea Kayaking Tours. We usually leave from Roche Harbor. They offer 3 hour tours and 5 hour tours. It is a lot of work, but not too difficult physically. I've done both the 3 hour and 5 hour. With the 5 hour you stop at a beach and eat your sack lunch. They say there is a chance to see whales but I've never seen anything. The bigger Whale watching tours might give you more of a chance.
here's the website.
