Folklife

Many years ago Misty was a clogger.  Annually she preformed at Seattle's Folklife Festival.  Now, if I am in town, it has become my tradition to go to this festival.  And although there are no longer any cloggers to grace the dance stage, this Memorial Day weekend was one not to be forgotten.  I convinced my friends Emily and Angela to come with me.  The Folklife Festival is an annual event that allows every musician and hippie to get together and perform all types of music, sell their goods, eat amazing food, and if they're lucky, they even get a little sun.  You get all types from serious musicians to people with signs offering free hugs and of course you can't forget those who wear Socks with their Birkenstocks.  My favorite act was a little girl, balancing on a giant rubber ball, and playing the violin while hulahooping.  This year was especially exciting for two reasons.  1.  A crazy man opened fire during the middle of the festival on Saturday and shot two people (both lived to tell the tale), and 2.  I found the SPOONMAN.  Everything in his tent was made from silverware.  More junk made out of junk than you could possible imagine.  But pretty creative too.  Here are a few examples of his beautiful creations!  I love this city!

Women of Steel Triathlon

Saturday morning I got up bright and early to race in a women's only triathlon. I dreaded doing it. I had signed up and paid months ago, but then so many obstacles got in the way. I was having serious foot troubles and had not been running much. I hadn't biked at all. (My swimming was about the only thing that I had been doing.) Rod and the boy's were gone on a Father's and Sons camping trip so I would need to get a babysitter for 7 am! I just thought it would be so much easier to stay in bed! Danielle was kind enough to spend the night and babysit, so I decided I had better go. I was so glad I did. It was so fun. (At least it was when it was all over!) Tanya Boyer and I before the race. Tanya ended up placing 4oth overall and 1st in the swim! Wow! I ended up about in the middle. There were about 533 women racing.

When it was over we ran into Shauna Carter and Kirsten Bybee.

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jacks...

Rob and I joined some friends at Safeco Field to watch the Mariners take on the White Sox.  Doesn't he look excited.  (The look on is face can be attributed to the fact that, he hates baseball, the Mariners, lost, he hates getting his picture taken, and/or he ate too many garlic fries)
This is a picture of my friend Esther and I with Safeco field in the background.  Even if the Marniers don't have the greatest record, they do have one of the greatest stadiums.  There isn't a bad seat in the house, and the food is the best!  If you come to visit me this summer, I'll take you to a game!  :0)

Bear World

Lexi really enjoyed the petting zoo and wasn't afraid of any of the animals. They even had baby bear cubs, they were so small.

Yellowstone Bear World was fun with Jeremy, Megan, Lexi and Breckon. There really are lots of Bears there. This was taken in front of the gift shop.

Dad in Washington

Dad was in Kent, Washington and got together with Michael and Sherrie. This picture was taken in their apartment.

Halle's Haircut

Several months ago Halle asked me if she could cut her hair short. As a stall tactic I told her that she should wait until it was long enough to give it to Locks of Love http://www.locksoflove.org/. She patiently waited. We researched Locks of Love and talked about why some children might need a wig. I have to say she really was looking forward to sharing her hair with these special kids. Well the night before her hair appointment we were discussing if we really could go through with it. She was worried and uncertain. She asked Rod what she should do and he told her "just do it". So she did! I know she was scared but she was very brave. I am so proud of her! Check out the length of her hair. I didn't realize how long it was!
Check out the length of her hair. I didn't realize how long it was!
This moment was probably the scariest for Mom! Ouch!
Here is the ponytail that will be sent to Locks of Love.
Her hair looks adorable, although it will take some getting used to! We are very proud of her for making the sacrifice for others who aren't so lucky.

Our Idaho Trip

We went to Idaho last weekend to visit Grandma, Grandpa, and Misty. We had so much fun. The kids loved spending time there. They took us to Yellowstone Bear World and Big Jud's. Then our little family went to Yellowstone for the day on Sunday. There was lots of snow, but we saw some neat animals.

Isn't It Beautiful?!

Here it is!  A big thanks to Rob who did most of the painting.
We are really excited with the way it turned out.
We ordered Specialized Stickers to make it look authentic.
Rob and I took it to Greenlake today to give it a test run.
It turned out great.  Everything works like it should, even better than it did before.
